I take several medications for sleep, I start to feel over medicated. What is the best new sleep meds?

Have had chronic insomnia since I was a baby. It went unnoticed until I was in jr. high and began to take a cold capsule at bedtime when I could not sleep and that helped at the time. I was taken for many doctors that I grew up, but they always told my mother there was nothing wrong with me and sent me home to yell at fake illness. I was not fake. I was a very sickly child, chronic fatigue, with little interest in the world and people around me. When I am able to sleep well for at least eight hours I feel almost normal. But without medication, not brain mine does not turn enough to sleep. I quickly develop a tolerance for drugs, so dose increases which increases the severity or their side effects. I was born a type A Personality and it kills me to sit at home when I want to be working. But without a long-term relief of my insomnia I can not work. I need to find a new sleep aid that does not causing me to sleep walk. I've already tried all natural remedies

Try to get some exercise (the more the better), reading and eating bananas also cut out distracting in the bedroom as a TV or exercise to avoid caffeine (of course) and eat a healthy balanced diet this may all sound like common sense, but I still hope that helps
