Secret Agent Clank
Plot
The game focuses on the experiences of Clank and his secret alter-ego, Secret Agent Clank. Chronologically, this game is set after the events of Size Matters, but before the events of Tools of Destruction.
The game begins with Clank goes to Boltaire museum to stop the theft of a priceless jewel known as the "Eye of Infinity. Clank Ratchet looks fled the scene, which is arrested by local police. While retinal scans prove that the thief was Ratchet, Clank is convinced his friend is innocent. Clank investigating the theft on, traveling to different places until he comes across a mysterious figure known only as "Kingpin." Clank coming to the end of one of the Kingpin's den and rescues a scientist, who informs him that Kingpin intends to build a giant laser with the power to destroy the galaxy. The researcher will then show that the Kingpin is going to an abandoned space facility. The Kingpin later turns out to be none other than the gurgling, Clank's evil doppelganger motif first introduced in Up Your Arsenal. It is revealed that gurgled through Ratchet was constituted through a mind-control device hidden in Ratchet's helmet.
Gurgled reveals he has stolen the Eye to use as a refractor of a massive laser system perfectly prepared to destroy every planet in the galaxy. He plans to threaten to use the laser on a plane (with the help of Ratchet) and myself, posing as Clank, Ratchet stop from destroying the galaxy, place the hero in prison for ever, while the gurgling would be adored by the population.
Halfway through their battle, activate gurgled laser. Clank turn gurgled out and manage to disable the firing sequence while Captain Qwark accidentally beams himself aboard the satellite, retrieves Eye, and beamed from the satellite just before the self-destruction. Ratchet is acquitted of crimes filed against him. Gurgled located in Ratchet's custody, is turned into a new vacuum cleaner for use in the apartment.
Gameplay
Unlike to previous Ratchet & Clank game, Clank's gameplay is more like Ratchet's. In the past he played was more about solving puzzles, now, he's a full on action character with weapons and gadgets of their own. Also featured are interactive movies where the player must press a sequence of buttons on the right way to sneak through an area undetected. Giant Clank, where Clank transforms into a monster-sized game machine, also makes an appearance.
Other playable characters
Moreover, Clank, both Captain Qwark and Ratchet will play in the game. Qwark's gameplay segments are based on dubious accounts of their own business and are more action-based. Ratchet's segments in prison more like the gameplay of previous games in the series.
Weapons and gadgets
Clank has six weapons on its stock: the Tie-a-Rang, Cuff Link Bombs, Tanglevine Carnation, Blow Torch Briefcase, storm, umbrella, and Holo-Knuckles. Clank are able to access a snowboard and other vehicles. The player can upgrade Clank's "Clank-Fu" fighting moves and weapons, similar to the weapons-leveling system in the traditional Ratchet & Clank games. The player can learn new techniques, and various finishing moves.
Development and release
The game was in development since before the release of Size Matters. In July 2007 came the rumors about the game's existence when David Bergeaud, that compose music for Ratchet & Clank series, accidentally revealed the game in his online resume. The game was not confirmed by Sony at a pre-TGS 2007 conference.
Reception
Secret Agent Clank received mixed critical score from a 6.5/10 from IGN for a 8.5/10 from Game Informer. Most scores fall in the 6-8 level with the Metacritic score of 72/100. PS2 version again received lukewarm reviews.
