Medicines for the adrenal glands and insomnia?

I have had chronic insomnia for several years now, and I recently had an adrenal test done. The test showed that my adrenal glands produce cortisol in a completely different pattern from normal, and a nutritionalist feel this may be the cause of insomnia min. He has told me to take a series of supplements, licorice, Rehmannia and Ashwaganda to process this, but I was wondering if there is a medicine that would be able to help instead

A different pattern than normal indicates a loss of circadian rhythms. Yes, it's causing your insomnia. Normal cortisol rhythm is to reach a peak 8am to fall throughout the day to around half by 2 to 16:00, and now a low around midnight. If you look at a lab slip, see the tests should be done in 8am or 2-16:00 or by midnight (saliva or blood). You need to see an endocrinologist – but a good one. Not all endo can pick up the abnormal rhythm. I did it myself and it took an expert. But you need testing. The herbs you are taking may interfere with tests that terminate them (especially licorice) before testing. If you have high cortisol, medication is in the study, but usually surgery to remove the source be used if there is a tumor. There are medications, but you have to take replacement steroids and medications are only temporary. I had to see over 10 physicians before I found a good one …
